A disturbing case of animal neglect has led to the arrest of a Floral City woman after deputies found dozens of dead animals on her property. On January 15, 2026, Citrus County deputies responded to a report of an animal rescue operation at a home in the 300 block of Southeast 4th Avenue in Floral City, located in Citrus County, Florida. Upon arrival, they found multiple dead animals, including dogs, cats, and horses.
The owner of the property, 52-year-old Karen Sue Post, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. According to authorities, Post had been operating an animal rescue operation at her home, but conditions were found to be unsanitary and inhumane. Deputies reported finding dozens of dead animals, with some estimates suggesting over 50 animals had died due to neglect. Post was taken into custody and transported to the Citrus County Jail.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about potential animal abuse or neglect to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
