The Crystal River City Council will consider buying a portable sound stage paid for by private donations at its meeting on Monday, March 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Crystal River Welcome Center, 915 S. Suncoast Blvd. City Manager Audra Curts will present a resolution for a $135,805 purchase order for an Apex sound stage to be used for concerts and other city events.
The stage purchase is funded by $157,500 in pledged donations, more than enough to cover the cost. If approved, the stage is expected to be completed by Nov. 1. The council will also consider two items related to the city’s ongoing Southern Sewer Expansion Project, part of Crystal River’s effort to reduce pollution entering Kings Bay. The first measure would accept a $533,780 grant from an unspecified source to advance septic-to-sewer work in the city.
The city is planning to use the new stage to host six Saturday night music festivals in 2026, including the Crystal River Stone Crab Jam and Music Festival presented by King’s Bay Rotary Charitable Foundation. The festival featured a band playing on one of three stages this year, and the city hopes to benefit from owning its own equipment rather than renting it.
The Crystal River City Council meeting will take place on Monday, March 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Crystal River Welcome Center. Residents can attend in person or follow along with the city’s agenda.
