Cold Weather Shelter Open in Citrus County

A cold weather shelter in Citrus County will be open Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 22-24, for residents seeking refuge from the cold. The shelter, located at the Citrus County Fairgrounds, 3201 S. State Road 44, Inverness, will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night.

The shelter is being provided by the Citrus County Department of Social Services and the American Red Cross. “We encourage anyone who is in need of a warm place to stay to come to the shelter,” said a spokesperson for the department. The shelter will provide a warm and safe place for people to stay, with cots and blankets available. Meals and snacks will also be provided.
