The Citrus County burn ban, which was put in place due to dry conditions, has been lifted effective immediately. According to officials, recent rainfall has helped to alleviate the fire danger, allowing residents to once again burn yard waste and other materials.
The burn ban was initially implemented on February 1, 2023, and had been in place for several weeks. With the lifting of the ban, residents are now allowed to conduct prescribed burns, provided they follow all local regulations and take necessary precautions to prevent accidental fires. The Citrus County Fire Department encourages residents to exercise caution when burning and to follow all guidelines to ensure public safety.
