The Citrus County burn ban, which was in place to prevent wildfires during dry conditions, has been lifted. Effective immediately, residents are allowed to burn yard waste and other materials, but are still required to follow the county’s burn ordinance.
The burn ban was lifted after recent rainfall helped to alleviate dry conditions in the area. The Citrus County Fire Department had implemented the ban on January 10, 2023, but with the changing weather conditions, residents can now dispose of yard waste through burning, provided they follow safety guidelines.
In other news, outdoor enthusiasts gathered at the Citrus County Expo, which showcased the best of the great outdoors. The expo also included a presentation by local wildlife experts on the importance of conservation and protecting the county’s natural resources. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the various initiatives in place to preserve the area’s unique ecosystem and how they can get involved in conservation efforts.
