A cancer awareness event and sixth annual walk, “It’s All About the Cause,” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, from 3-8 p.m. at Town Square Park, 559 N. Citrus Ave., Crystal River. The annual family-friendly event is presented by the Nature Coast Cancer Crusaders, and there is no registration fee. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The event will feature an optional three-mile walk starting at 4 p.m., an Opening Ceremony at 5 p.m., and the “Light the Way of Hope” luminaria ceremony at 7 p.m. A cornhole tournament will also take place, with teams from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue/EMT, Crystal River Fire Department, and U.S. Coast Guard competing against each other. In other local health news, the Knights of Columbus Council 6168 and Our Lady of Grace Parish will host a blood drive on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the council hall, 2389 W Norvell Bryant Highway, Lecanto. HCA Florida Citrus Hospital, in partnership with Citrus County Fire Rescue, will also host a CPR event, although specific details about the event were not provided.
