Four people, including two children, were severely injured in an RV explosion in Lecanto on Monday night, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue. The blast occurred around 10:30 p.m. at 9475 Southwest Citrus Drive, near the intersection of Southwest 130th Avenue.
The victims, whose names have not been released, were transported to area hospitals with critical injuries. The ages of the children were not disclosed. Fire officials said the cause of the explosion is under investigation. The RV was reportedly occupied by multiple people at the time of the blast. Crews from Citrus County Fire Rescue and the Lecanto Fire Department responded to the scene.
Citrus County Fire Rescue reported that the explosion was followed by a fire, which was extinguished by responding firefighters. The incident is being investigated by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fire Marshal’s Office.
